Background Notes from Doug Rich

After several years of soul searching, I left TriBrook at the end of 2004. TriBrook had been my professional home for nearly 27 years so my leaving came with a great deal of sadness.

At the beginning of 2005 I started my own healthcare consulting company with my wife, Ann. Actually, to be more accurate, I have gone to work for Ann. When she left TriBrook 18 years before she set up a healthcare consulting practice under the name of ASR Planning. Ann is President of the company and I am now Managing Director. We always enjoyed working together at TriBrook: that's where we met and we were frequently assigned together to projects, once the leaders of the firm got used to the idea of having a married couple on their consulting staff! The projects that we have been able to take on so far under our own banner have proven to us that we are a great team. It is delightful to be able to travel together and although we are both control-freaks, we fortunately like to control different things!

After commuting out to the western suburbs of Chicago from our home in the City for most of those years that I was with TriBrook, one of the things I was most looking forward to was having an office much closer to home. We were very fortunate to find office space in a professional building less than two blocks from our home. As Ann likes to say, our commute is now 500 steps down the sidewalk (literally) from the front door of our house to the entrance to the office building. It has given a whole new meaning to the idea of rush hour!

One of the aspects of setting up our own practice to which I was most looking forward, was being able to significantly cut down on my administrative time and spend more time working on client projects. Since 2005, I must say that we have been blessed with excellent clients. We have been able to be selective in the projects we have taken on. We have been fortunate to be able to work exclusively on challenging engagements for clients we respect.

I encourage you to consider retaining ASR Planning for your strategic planning needs. Feel free to contact either Ann or me, and we can discuss the specific needs of your organization.
